WELCOME

We are excited you decided to take the time and investigate what the Georgia Whigs are all about.  We are a very different party then you might be used to.  So take sometime and delve deep because you just might find our approach totaly refreshing.

The Modern Whig Party

The Modern Whig Party is a new party started by veterans returning from the deserts of Iraq and mountains of Afghanistan.  Georgia Modern Whigs are a METHODOLOGY party not a ideological party.  We are a moderate party that sees common sense and leadership as the solution to the endless partisanship that the major parties of today have managed to thrive in and create.  We are a voice for those voters who, while holding to a few core tenets, focus on learning for themselves their own platforms.  This brings together under one party a set of unique views that is used to compromise and find the best option for the nation.  We are a young party still forming, and we would love to see you become a part of this great movement to take back our nation from those who would seek to divide us.  We have a very unique strategy and structure in American politics that can be difficult to convey for first time views.  We hope you take the time to reach out to a current Modern Whig and get the full picture.  You will not be disappointed.
THE HISTORY of the 'WHIG' NAME

The Whig Party actually traces its roots to the early American party that was formed to fight the over centralization of power under President Andrew Jackson.  They took on the name 'Whig' from the Revolutionary War where Patriots were named Whigs by loyalists to the king, called Tories.  The original Whig party was a diverse group of statesmen who actively sought compromise between a nation quickly dividing itself over slavery.  Ultimately the slavery issue destroyed the original Whig party, and members scattered to the Democratic-Republicans (modern day southern Democrats), and the newly created Republican Party (modern day GOP).  Famous Whigs include Henry Clay, the great Compromiser, and Abraham Lincoln.
